The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, appeared to have kicked one window and smashed another window with an unknown tool on Feb. 3, 2025.
The cost of replacing the windows has been estimated at $35,000. According to the university, they were historic stained glass windows that were installed when the home was originally built in 1929.
With the help of donations and a recently approved grant, the windows are expected to be replaced later this year.
The suspect was arrested as a result of an anonymous tip and was arraigned on Monday, April 1.
“This act of vandalism has been a very upsetting situation for all of us,” added Bill Matt, the executive director of Meadow Brook Hall. “We are greatly appreciative of the Oakland University Police Department for their excellent work in apprehending the responsible party.”
