Man was issued a $5M cash bond
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man involved in the Bloomfield Township vehicle break-in has been arrested and now faces five felony charges.
Police said that on the early morning of Jan. 19, 2025, nearly a dozen citizens of Bloomfield Township had become victims of vehicle break-ins and theft.
After a lengthy investigation by the Bloomfield Township Police Department and the Troy Special Investigations Unit (SIU), police said Samuel Bender Jr. was identified.
The case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, which issued a five-count felony warrant: four counts of breaking an automobile and one count of larceny from an automobile.
On April 3, 2025, Bender Jr. was taken into custody through a collaborative effort between Troy SIU and the Detroit Police Department.
At the time of arrest, Bender Jr. was in possession of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been stolen out of Birmingham within the past week.
On April 4, 2025, the 48th District Court arraigned Bender Jr. and issued a $5,000,000 cash bond.
