Ronaldo Rodriguez’s budding stardom has hit a slight bump.
The popular Mexican fighter came in over the flyweight limit at Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Mexico, which takes place Saturday at Arena CDMX. Rodriguez weighed in at 127 pounds, one pound heavy (including the one-pound allowance for a non-title fight), while opponent Kevin Borjas came in at 125 pounds for their main card bout.
The bout proceeds at a catchweight of 127 pounds, with Rodriguez forfeiting 20 percent of his purse as penalty.
In the main event, two-time flyweight titleholder Brandon Moreno and recent title challenger Steve Erceg both successfully made weight, hitting the championship mark at 125 pounds on the dot. Moreno currently stands at No. 4 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, while Erceg is ranked No. 13.
Other than Rodriguez, the other 25 fighters competing Saturday in Mexico City all successfully made weight.
